Scheduled lawn and landscape maintenance services include:
LAWN AREA MANAGEMENT
All turf areas will be inspected and policed for litter and debris prior to each mowing. All turf will be mowed weekly beginning in April and through the end of October, with three additional mowings in November and December to remove leaves, for a total of 28-30 mowings in the year. Prior to the first mowing, a spring cleanup will be performed, during which the lawn and bed areas will be cleaned of debris and blown through. All bed edges will be spaded and line edged and all sidewalks and curbs will be mechanically edged.
Mowing height for all lawn areas shall be no less than 2 1/2″, and not to exceed 3 1/2″: The turf shall be cut at a uniform height, preventing scalping and uneven cutting. Mower blades are regularly maintained for a clean, even cut. Any excess clippings shall be dispersed and/or collected to prevent damage to existing lawn areas or an unsightly appearance.
All sidewalks, curb lines, concrete slabs, bed edges and the immediate high visual areas shall be mechanically edged as needed to maintain a neat, clean appearance, approximately twice per month.
TRIMMING OR “WEED EATING”
Trimming will be performed around all road signs, guard posts, trees, shrubs, utility poles and other obstacles, taking special care to not damage trees and shrubs. The grass to be trimmed will not be trimmed to less than the desired height of cut determined by the mowing operation.
At the conclusion of each visit, walks and driveways adjacent to work areas are swept or blown clean.
SHRUB BED MANAGEMENT
CARE OF SHRUB BEDS
During home and commercial grounds maintenance all bed areas will be policed weekly throughout the season for weeds, paper and debris. All planter beds, tree circles, sidewalk cracks, etc., are sprayed periodically to control unwanted grasses and broadleaf weeds. Chemical practices will not be a substitute for hand weeding where the latter is required for complete removal. All planter beds are to have one application of pre-emergence herbicide per year at the beginning of the season. Adequate mulch is required for suitable weed control.
CARE OF ORNAMENTAL PLANTS
Fertilizing of shrubs and ornamental trees is done once in the fall. All materials will be a well-balanced, organic based type fertilizer, including soil amendments, bio-stimulants and micronutrients. Pests on ornamental trees and shrubs are controlled through the IPM technique. Evergreen shrubs are treated with an anti-desiccant to prevent water loss during the winter months.
Shrubbery will be pruned to insure the correct shape and natural growth habit for the area they are growing in once per year. Tip prune selected branchlets of low growing shrub or groundcover masses to maintain an even overall height and promote fullness. Groundcover plantings will be pruned as required to restrain perimeter growth to within planting bed areas where adjacent to walks and curbs. Pruning of ornamental trees shall be done to enhance natural growth.
Ornamental tree pruning will include the removal of dead, damaged, improper branching and diseased portions of the plant. All cuts shall be flush and clean, leaving no stubs or tearing of bark. Emergency or minor pruning shall be performed when needed. Provide remedial attention and repair to shrubs and trees as appropriate by season or in response to incidental damage.
Removal of all leaves from lawns, and walkways will be completed throughout the season as needed to maintain a clean appearance throughout. Starting in October, the entire property, including bed and lawn areas, will be cleaned of all leaves, with a final cleanup in December, during which time the lawn will be cut short for the winter.
Occasionally the lawn may be mowed as a method of economically and efficiently picking up leaves that are scattered across the lawn or blown out of beds. When appropriate or necessary, leaves will be removed from your property using our vacuum truck or left on the street for your town to pick up.
We activate irrigation systems during the spring time – April, May and June. This includes checking performance of all portions of the system and performing necessary adjustments, cleaning, or other work required to re-establish proper irrigation functions.
We perform necessary site visits during the year as requested by the client. Systems are shut off and winterized typically by the beginning of the holiday season depending on weather temperature.

I have wanted a waterfall and a pond for years, and just couldn’t afford it. Thanks to Horizon Landscape, I now have what I’ve always dreamed of.
If my memory serves me correctly, Horizon has been providing weekly lawn cutting service for about 20 years now. The fact that we have retained and expanded the services of Horizon for so many years speaks for itself. Over the years that original service has expanded to include the following:
- Complete lawn maintenance service including seeding fertilizing, insect control, weed control, lime ap… Read more

I just want to thank you for the beautiful work you and your company did with our backyard. It not only looks great, it also drains properly! (No more water in the basement!) Everyone who came to our house from Horizon was prompt, courteous and professional…. Which is not so common. With appreciation!
Thank you, Horizon, for your excellent clean up of the snow, especially with my steep driveway.
Just wanted to say thanks again for the outstanding job that you and your crew did! We are so please with the work and the finished landscape is just better than we expected! Thanks again to all of you!
We’ve had Horizon maintain our sprinklers and outdoor lighting for the past two years. Their prices are reasonable and their technicians are nice guys who are knowledgeable about lighting upgrades. It’s easy to schedule a time for them to come, and they’re easy to reschedule. Overall a great company that I would recommend.
Like my Tuesday crew very much. Tim and Gary have been great with extra projects. And the emergency snow plowing this winter saved the day.
Tom at Horizon was very easy to work with and his crew did a great job with no unexpected additional costs and the job was completed as proposed. I would definitely recommend Horizon to my friends and family.
Working with Tim and Gary never disappoints. George and his crew are the best. They are always happy and work very hard at making Tim’s drawings come to life. A pleasure to have them working here.
The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.
